The American Rescue Plan allowed for families that were eligible to collect an enhanced child tax credit ahead of time before getting the full refund in 2022.
Some families that are eligible still haven’t signed up and collect up to $3,600 they’re entitled to.
Families have until Nov. 15 to sign up and get the first half of their payments.
A lot of families that haven’t claimed it are those that have low enough income to not file taxes. This would be their first time receiving refunds so the IRS needs their banking information to send it.
Families can sign up with GetCTC.org or through the IRS website with the CTC Update Portal.
This will ensure the full first half of the child tax credits go to families that didn’t get any other payments.
