Senator Kyrsten Sinema has spoken out against President Joe Biden’s plans to tax the extremely wealthy, so what does her own wealth look like?
Sinema was elected in 2019 to represent Arizona, and has her money grow since then. Where is it coming from?
Sinema’s net worth went from $32,500 in 2018, to $1 million dollars in 2021. Her earnings for her elected position as a senator bring in $174,000 per year. It isn’t fully known where the wealth came from.
Her childhood was the opposite compared to her life today, at times being homeless and finding shelter in an abandoned gas station.
Despite her hardships and overcoming adversity, her decisions today are criticized and questioned. People also question how she got all that money.
Sinema was a social worker and lawyer before becoming a senator. She is blocking the social policy and climate bill, and raising funds from multiple lobbying groups that are against the bill.
This year she voted against a bill that would have made minimum wage $15 per hour. She accepted $750,000 from a pharmaceutical company just before going against a plan from the Democrats that would lower the cost of prescription drugs.
She was previously married and has since been separated. In 2018 she announced that she was the first openly bisexual member of the Senate.
