Police are investigating an attack and robbery that happened at the IHA Housing Complex playground in the city of Ithaca during the afternoon hours on Saturday.
One person identified as the victim in a news release was treated at the scene and sent to a regional trauma center for ‘significant’ injuries to his head and face after two people began attacking him near the Hotel Ithaca at 222 South Cayuga Street.
It’s unclear what prompted the incident, but the victim was attacked and robbed of his money. The victim said that during the attack one of the suspects produced a handgun and began striking him in the head with it.
Officers say the incident unfolded at a playground at the IHA Housing Complex.
The injuries sustained by the victim were serious but not life threatening, according to a news release from IPD.
