Governor Kathy Hochul is urging parents to get their children who are old enough vaccinated against COVID-19, and reminds them that adding it to the list of required vaccines for school is always an option.
She urges parents to follow the science, look at the data, and understand it’s the safest option for children.
For children, 45.3% are currently fully vaccinated between the ages of 12 and 15, and 56.8% are fully vaccinated between the ages of 16 and 25.
Hochul shared her “Vax to School” campaign which works to promote the vaccine on social media, provides resources for parents about vaccinating children, and recruits schools and communities willing to host vaccine clinics for kids.
She also warned that if the numbers didn’t improve she would take dramatic action.
