Senior Director of Infection Prevention at Rochester Regional Health informs people that a dirty, contaminated, and/or wet mask is not going to do its job.
She says though a dirty mask may not work as well, it’s a better option than no mask at all.
Masks should have more than one layer and fit properly around the nose and mouth to work well.
The CDC recommends washing masks regularly with the laundry.
