Cayuga County Legislature scheduled to meet and discuss holding titles for property CCC would use for childcare

The county Legislature will meet tonight, Aug. 24, on the sixth floor of the Cayuga County Office Building to discuss the county purchasing land on behalf of Cayuga Community College for their childcare center.

The college is not allowed to own property under state education law, so the county would hold the titles.

The property is 83-87 Wall St. which holds two parcels of vacant land and one with a building.

Right now the childcare center is where Neighborhood House was. That daycare closed in 2016 after struggling financially and offered more space to CCC’s childcare program in 2019.

The additional space is $180,000 and the college has $175,00 to go toward it, plus the amount SUNY is agreeing to match. Additional funds will go toward the improvement of the property.
