SUNY Upstate Medical University doctor expresses concern for unvaccinated individuals

Dr. Stephen Thomas, Director of the Global Health Institute at SUNY Upstate Medical University, says he is very concerned of the Delta variant heading into fall and winter.

In just the last two weeks, Onondaga County went from a 50 to a 70% spike in cases.

The vaccination rate for Onondaga County currently sits at 61%.

Thomas said if people don’t continue to get vaccinated, that’s a sure way to bring back the masks.

Thomas expressed concern over who it is people are choosing to listen to or where they get their information from. He said 99% of Covid-19 related deaths happened in unvaccinated people over the past few months.
