Passport wait times make even expedited services take months

With travel restrictions being lifted as society comes out of the pandemic, people want to travel more than ever.

The influx in people wanting to travel and needing to renew or get new passports has created an incredibly long wait time.

Andrea Klett Tioga County Clerk, suggests if someone wants to travel next year they should start the process of getting a passport now.

The additional fee of $60 still won’t get a person their passport until at least fall.

Klett suggests paying for faster mail service to help as well.

Senator Schumer has called on the State Department to bring in more employees to process passports faster.
