UPDATE: Port Byron man identified as victim in fatal crash at Paradise Speedway

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man who died in what was initially described by law enforcement as a crash at Paradise Speedway over the weekend.

Brian Hoisington, 49, of Port Byron died while participating in an event at the race track on Saturday.

His cause of death remains under investigation pending the results of an autopsy being conducted at Geneva General Hospital.

Sheriff Henderson says more information will be released when it becomes available from the investigation.



Sheriff: One dead at Paradise Speedway

– Sunday, 6 a.m.

Emergency crews responded to the report of a motor vehicle crash with an unresponsive victim at the Paradise Speedway on Hayes Rd. in the town of Phelps.

The victim was extricated from his race car by track crews and responding fire crews from the Oaks Corners and Phelps Fire Departments.

Medical care was provided by Paradise Speedway medics, Phelps Ambulance and Finger Lakes Ambulance. Mercy Flight also responded.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of death is still under investigation.
