Four taken into custody after kidnapping along I-86

New York State Police arrested several people following a kidnapping in progress report along Interstate 86.

It happened when the Chemung County 911 Center received a call that a vehicle near 104 Wygant Road in the town of Horseheads was being targeted.


Two traffic stops were initiated- and the following individuals were taken into custody:

Brandon Measheaw, 22, of Chemung was charged with kidnapping, robbery, five counts of criminal possession of a weapon, and one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance- all felonies.

Joseph Mahood, 20, of Elmira was charged with kidnapping, robbery, and three counts of criminal possession of a weapon- all felonies.

Nicholas Gunderman, 19, of Chemung was charged with kidnapping, criminal possession of a weapon, and criminal possession of a controlled substance. Two of the charges are felony counts.

Taren Klumpe, 21, of Waverly was charged with kidnapping- also as a felony.

The victim was found safe and declined medical attention.
