The Mets have placed Kevin Pillar on the 10-day IL and recalled INF Wilfredo Tovar, the team announced Tuesday.
Pillar, who was hit in the face by a 95 mph fastball in Atlanta against the Braves on Monday night, “suffered multiple nasal fractures,” per the Mets.
He will meet with a facial specialist in Atlanta to determine next steps.
Before Tuesday’s game, Pillar walked into the Mets’ clubhouse and asked if he was in the lineup:
My dawg @KPILLAR4 just walked in the clubhouse and goes “Am I in the lineup today or what?” What a WARRIOR! About to get my man the Rip Hamilton face mask for future competition. Lol KP is a LEGEND!

Pillar also responded to a text from Braves manager Brian Snitker, saying:
“I’m fine. If I could see out of my right eye, I’d be in the lineup tonight.”
Pillar seemed to be in good spirits after Monday’s scary moment.
“Thanks to everyone that has reached out! Scary moment but I’m doing fine!” Pillar tweeted late Monday night, adding, “#RBI #gamewinner.”
