Cole has a 1.43 ERA (0.48 FIP) and 0.71 WHIP in 37.2 innings over six starts this season.
He has struck out 62 batters (14.8 per 9) while walking just three and has allowed just one home run.
Cole, who tossed six shutout innings against the Detroit Tigers on April 30 during his most recent start, has not allowed more than two earned runs in any outing this season.
The early-season dominance of Cole was especially important for the Yankees as Corey Kluber and Jameson Taillon got off to slow starts.
But Taillon and Kluber (more on him below) have been improving, with a more well-rounded rotation starting to form behind Cole.
KLUBER NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kluber was named AL Player of the Week after allowing just one earned run in 14.2 innings (0.61 ERA) over two starts.
Kluber dominated the Tigers on Sunday, tossing eight shutout innings while allowing two hits, striking out 10 and walking one.
