Three facing charges after fatal hit-and-run investigation in Chemung

Authorities say two people have been charged after a fatal motor vehicle crash on County Rt. 60 in the town of Chemung.

According to the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office on Friday around 8:47 p.m. deputies were dispatched for a person who was found laying int he roadway with severe head injuries.

They say 38-year-old Brandon Lane, of Chemung had been struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. He was transported to Robert Packer Hospital where he died from his injuries.


Logan Bowman, 20, was taken into custody after investigation. Deputies say Bowman struck the victim in a vehicle and fled the scene. He was charged with felony leaving the scene of a crash.

Tashahnda Myers, 18, and Donald Griffith, 30, were also arrested. Myers was taken into custody on a second-degree obstructing governmental administration charge and Griffith on a warrant for criminal sale of a controlled substance.

All individuals involved will appear at a later date for additional court action.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the New York State Police, and Athens Township Pennsylvania Police Department. The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Chemung Volunteer Fire Department, Greater Valley Ambulance, and Town of Chemung Highway Department for assistance at the scene.
