Yankees agree to minor-league deal with left-handed pitcher Mike Montgomery

The Yankees have agreed to a deal with pitcher Mike Montgomery, Robert Murray reports.

Montgomery played in just three games with the Kansas City Royals last year and was with the Mets in Port St. Lucie this spring.

He had a 6.14 ERA over four games (one start) and 7.2 IP this spring, allowing 10 hits and five earned runs with nine strikeouts.

Montgomery won a World Series with the Chicago Cubs in 2016, getting the series-winning save in Game 7 against the Cleveland Indians.

In his last four seasons, he has appeared in 118 games while making 47 starts. As a starter, he owns a career 4.19 ERA, but his ERA as a reliever is over a run better (3.16).
