Police: Driver flees crash scene, then police before being taken into custody on felony weapon, DWI charges

Police say that around 8:30 p.m. they were dispatched to a property damage crash involving a vehicle that had fled the scene.

The caller provided dispatchers with a license plate, which allowed officers to locate the vehicle- and attempt to stop it.

However, the vehicle fled a second time- before eventually being stopped on Green St.

Police say investigation into the crash determined that Warren Cooke, 57, was intoxicated. He was charged with aggravated DWI as well as felony criminal possession of a weapon.

A loaded 9mm handgun was found inside the vehicle. Due to his status as a felony- police say Cooke was not allowed to possess it legally.

Upon processing for the DWI charge- police say Cooke was found to have a BAC of 0.23%, which is almost three-times the legal limit.

Cooke was arraigned and will answer the charges at a later date.
