Officials at the Ontario County Jail say that the ‘Jail and T.A.I.L.S.’ program has been widely effective.
Another year into the venture, where inmates teach animals skills to assist with turning around their own lives- both dogs and inmates are doing well.
As with previous years, candidates are interviewed and observed by jail staff to determine if they will qualify for the program- and then they are set up with a shelter dog.
Allowing the dogs to be trained by individuals at the jail allows all parties to be better suited with skills when they leave.
