There was no debate during the Seneca County Board of Supervisors reorganizational meeting, but Varick Supervisor Robert Hayssen secured another term as Chair during its annual reorganizational meeting.
Waterloo Supervisor Don Trout also received a nomination.
The final vote would be 471-274 in favor of Hayssen, as temporary chair Seneca Falls Supervisor Mike Ferrara guided the board through the proceedings.
Supervisors Mike Enslow, Ernie Brownell, Ron McGreevy, Mike Cleere, Joe Borst, as well as Trout voted against the Hayssen appointment. The supervisor from Waterloo had been nominated in 2020 for chair, but was also unsuccessful in that bid.
“I want to get a lot of things done but one more year is enough for me,” Hayssen said during the session after being sworn in. He thanked the Board for their support.
Supervisor Trout was recognized as majority leader for Republicans. Fayette Supervisor Cindy Lorenzetti was named minority leader for Democrats.
