Sheriff Kevin Henderson says no injuries were reported and a Canandaigua man was taken into custody on felony charges after a pursuit that began on the western edge of Ontario County and ended in the city of Rochester.
On Wednesday at approximately 11:30 p.m. deputies attempted to stop a vehicle on I-490 westbound in Ontario County. The vehicle had almost struck a deputy on a separate traffic stop.
Deputies say the vehicle did not pull over, and a pursuit continued into Monroe County and the city of Rochester. It ended on University Avenue, when 60-year-old Richard Gillette, of Canandaigua was taken into custody.
He was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated. However, a records check showed that Gillette had a revoked driver’s license, and was required to be operating with an interlock device.
Gillette had a previous DWI conviction, which made the most-recent arrest a felony charge. He was ultimately charged with felony DWI and aggravated unlicensed operation. A number of traffic tickets were also issued.
No injuries were reported.
