The House of Representatives passed a bill on Wednesday known as the Preliminary Damage Assessment Improvement Act of 2020.
According to News10NBC, the legislation strengthens the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) ability to help communities impacted by disasters.
Congressman John Katko (R-24) introduced the bill after the damaging flooding along Lake Ontario last year.
The bill shortens damage assessment for floods by creating a standardized training level for personnel responding on behalf of FEMA.
