The Buffalo Sabres announced Friday that the team has signed defenseman Matt Irwin to a one-year contract worth $700,000.
Irwin, 32, recorded one assist in nine games for Anaheim last season after being acquired from Nashville at the NHL Trade Deadline.
The 6-foot-1, 207-pound left-shot defenseman played 195 games over parts of four seasons with the Predators, and has produced 82 points (22+60) in 359 career games with Anaheim, Nashville, Boston and San Jose.
He’s maintained a career shot attempts percentage of 51.3 percent (team even-strength shot attempts while he was on the ice) and has never finished a full season below 50.1 percent.
In 47 career playoff games, Irwin, a native of Victoria, British Columbia, has four points (1+4), and dressed in a career-high 22 postseason games during Nashville’s run to the Stanley Cup Final in 2017.
