The Buffalo Sabres announced Monday evening that the team has signed forward Tage Thompson to a three-year contract with an average annual value of $1.4 million.
Thompson, 22, sustained a season-ending injury on Nov. 17 in his first NHL game last season.
He started the year in Rochester, where he found early success. At the time of his recall, he was tied for the Rochester Americans’ team lead with 12 points (6+6) and ranked second in the AHL with 67 shots at the time of his recall.
In his first season with the Sabres in 2018-19, he set career-high totals in NHL games played (65), goals (7) and points (12) in his first season with the Sabres in 2018-19.
Back in May, Thompson gave a positive update in a 1-on-1 chat with Brian Duff, saying that he’d been building muscle and was at around 226 pounds, up from 10 pounds from the start of 2019-20.
