WEBCAST REPLAY: 2020 Centennial Fountain Dedication in Seneca Falls (video)

The Fountain that was dedicated on Wednesday morning may be temporary, but its placement celebrates the permanent ratification of the 19th Amendment, which guarantees and protects a woman’s constitutional right to vote. In 1848, in Seneca Falls, the first women’s rights convention was held and an organized movement was born. What followed was 72 years of lobbying, marching, picketing, and protesting for the right to vote. Today, 100 years since the adoption of the 19th Amendment to our Constitution, more than 68 million women vote in elections because of the courageous and unwavering efforts of suffragists who never gave up the fight for equality. The fountain reaches 80 feet in the air and will be lit up at night in suffragist colors of purple, white, and gold.
