Deputies: Rochester woman charged with assault, resisting arrest after Eastview Mall incident

Deputies report the arrest of a 27-year-old Rochester woman at Eastview Mall on a number of charges following an incident on Wednesday.

Layshawn Thomas, 27, was charged with criminal possession of stolen property after possessing stolen merchandise from Sephora, Guess, and Macy’s which was valued at $1,140.


While deputies attempted to take her into custody she caused physical injury to a deputy and a security officer. She was further charged with resisting arrest and second-degree assault.

Thomas was arraigned and remanded to the Ontario County Jail. The deputy and security worker were checked over at the scene for their injuries and released, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
