Both drivers cited after crash that shut down part of Rt. 96 in Ontario County

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office reports the investigation of a two-car crash involving several people from Seneca, Monroe, and Wayne counties.

Deputies responded along with Phelps fire and EMS to 2121 State Route 96 for a two-car crash.

Andrew Gaylord, 21, of Lyons was headed west on Route 96 when he made a left turn into the Halfway Haus, striking a vehicle operated by Amanda Beers, 29, of Waterloo head-on.

A passenger in Beers’ vehicle was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital via Finger Lakes Ambulance for a checkover. A passenger in the Gaylord vehicle was transported to Clifton Springs Hospital.

Route 96 between State Route 488 and County Road 13 was closed for approximately an hour as crews worked the scene.

Taylor was cited for failure to yield the right of way. Beers was cited for driving without a license.
