The NHL announced the three finalists for the Calder Trophy (rookie of the year) as voted upon by the professional hockey writers association. Buffalo Sabres winger Victor Olofsson was not among them.
The three finalists are Quinn Hughes of the Vancouver Canucks, Cale Makar of the Colorado Avalanche, and Dominik Kubalik of the Chicago Blackhawks.
While Olofsson had an argument to be a finalist with a strong rookie campaign in the NHL scoring 20 goals and 42 points in 54 games. His ankle injury likely kept him out of any real consideration.
