Sonnenberg will get $500,000 more for Gibson St. entrance

Sonnenberg Gardens & Mansion State Historic Park has received added state funding.

The award is worth $500,000, which will go toward a new gateway that will move the park’s entrance to Gibson Street.

Sonnenberg Executive Director David Hutchings says he expects the project to move forward, as it has received community support.

The plan was unveiled in May 2018. The state acquired the property in 2006.

The changes coming to the park include a new, more visible and landscaped gateway, parking for 140 vehicles and a bus turnaround, according to The Messenger.
