The Southern Tier is getting ready to welcome its third hemp processor.

Great Eastern Hemp is reconfiguring a former sheltered workshop in Johnson City to produce CBD from industrial hemp, according to CNYCentral.

The company bought the space for $2.2 million and will start work at the facility later this year.

Canadian company Canopy Growth broke ground on a processing plant in Broome County in July.

Southern Tier Hemp hopes to start operating at the former Gannett newspaper printing facility.
