Police: Penn Yan man falsely reported stabbing

The Penn Yan Police Department reports the arrest of a 23-year-old for falsely reporting an incident.

Abimeael Ballesteros-Cissneros, 23, of Penn Yan was charged with third-degree falsely reporting an incident.

Police say they received a third party report from a person who was video chatting with Ballesteros-Cissneros.

Police say Ballesteros-Cissneros had told the other person on the phone that he had stabbed himself and pretended to lose consciousness.

Emergency services responded, and found Ballesteros-Cissneros covered in what looked like blood. Officers say the incident was staged because the suspect was upset with the person he was video chatting with.

Police say Ballesteros-Cissneros was issued an appearance ticket.
