Vacant home damaged after car leaves Rt. 14A, crashing through two-story porch

Deputies believe a medical emergency is to blame for a one-vehicle crash, which heavily damaged a home in the village of Montour Falls.

Around 1 p.m. on Monday deputies were called to South Catherine Street, which is State Route 14A, at the intersection of South Street for a car that had struck a two-story porch attached to a home.

The vehicle eventually came to rest against a stop sign, according to deputies.

The identity of the driver is not being released at this time, but the operator likely had a medical emergency, according to deputies.

The Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office says the home was vacant at the time of the accident. More information will be available as the investigation continues.

Deputies were assisted by the Montour Falls Fire Department, Schuyler Ambulance, Montour Falls Code Enforcement, the Montour Falls DPW, and Scotty’s Towing.
