A lengthy and expensive cleanup project is complete in Penn Yan.
The old gas house project is set to be completed in about a week, according to The Chronicle-Express. The work to overhaul the NYSEG-owned manufacturing gas plant on Water Street started in 2015.
It was supposed to cost $8 million; and at last check had already cost more than $10 million.
The Chronicle-Express reports that 12,268 tons of impacted sediment, and 24,160 tons of impacted soil had been removed, and 287,513 gallons of water had been treated as of September 2019.
There aren’t any immediate plans for the site.
