Clifton Springs teen ticketed after crash on Route 96

Deputies say that on Tuesday around 7:36 a.m. they responded to the scene of a one-car crash on State Route 96 west of State Route 488 in Phelps.

Clifton Springs Fire Department, Clifton Springs Police Department, Phelps Fire Department, and Phelps Ambulance all responded to the scene.

Deputies say that driver, identified as Juliana Dominguez, 17, of Clifton Springs was traveling east on Route 96 when she lost control of her vehicle in some slush that had accumulated on the roadway.

The vehicle then spun in the road and landed on the driver’s side of the vehicle – after it left the south shoulder of the road. The vehicle came to rest in a ditch.

A 13-year-old passenger was transported by private vehicle for further evaluation of minor injuries. Both occupants were wearing seatbelts, according to deputies.

They say Dominguez was ticketed for unsafe speed.
