The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office and Ontario County Humane Society report the arrest of a 29-year-old Farmington resident, following an investigation into animal abuse.
Deputies say 29-year-old Amber Westenberger, of Farmington was found to have a 5-month-old dog and small kitten at her residence. The issue, according to deputies, was that a portion of the kitten’s tail was missing – and the 29-year-old failed to provide proper care for it.
The kitten needed immediate medical attention, according to deputies. Both animals were removed from the property and Westenberger was charged with animal abandonment after failing to return to the Ontario County Humane Society for the animals.
She was also charged with animal cruelty. The charges will be answered in Farmington Town Court and Hopewell Town Court at a later date.
