One arrested on felony charges, another sent to hospital after two-car crash in Seneca County

Deputies say an Ovid man was arrested on felony charges after a two-vehicle crash along Route 414 in Romulus.

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Saturday at approximately 6:30 p.m. deputies arrested 51-year-old Robert Lavancher of Ovid.

Deputies say Lavancher was traveling south on State Route 414 in Romulus while operating an F-150 pickup truck and crossed into oncoming traffic – striking a Jeep Compass, operated by 30-year-old Rebbeca Delong.

Deputies say Delong suffered minor injuries and was transported to Geneva General Hospital by South Seneca Ambulance.

The Sheriff’s Office says Lavancher left the scene of the accident and was located a short time later.

He was subsequently charged with felony DWI, felony aggravated DWI, felony aggravated unlicensed operation, operating without an interlock device, failure to keep right, and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident.

Both vehicles were heavily damaged, according to deputies, who say that they were towed from the scene.

Lavancher was turned over to corrections pending centralized arraignment.
