Carlos Mendoza will become the Yankees’ new bench coach, replacing Josh Bard, reports WFAN insider and SNY Contributor Sweeny Murti.
Mendoza, 39, had been the Yankees’ infield and quality control coach since 2018. As quality control coach, he helped to serve as a bridge between the front office and dugout.
Prior to joining the Yankees’ big league staff, Mendoza worked in the minors for New York from 2012 to 2017 in various capacities, including manager of Single-A Charleston in 2012 and infield coordinator from 2013-2017.
Mendoza played in the minors from 1997-2009, when he was a utility infielder in the Giants and Yankees organizations.
