Police say that a 37-year-old Rock Stream resident was arrested on felony weapons charges, as well as a number of vehicle and traffic violations after a traffic stop on Monday around the 200 block of North Meadow Street.
Police say that around 6 p.m. police observed a vehicle traveling north on Elmira Road onto South Meadows Street, which was acting erratically. The vehicle was observed changing lanes without a turn signal.
The operator of the vehicle was identified as Joseph Herrick, 37, of Rock Stream.
Police say that when they approached the vehicle officers detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Following admissions and a search of the vehicle – Herrick was found to be in possession of a 12-inch sawed off shotgun.
He was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, a Class E felony, and a number of other vehicle and traffic violations.
Herrick is scheduled to appear in Ithaca City Court to answer the charges.
