Deputies say second victim was raped as search for suspect continues in Tompkins County

Tompkins County sheriff’s deputies say the man who displayed a knife and forcibly touched two women in two incidences in October raped the victim in the most recent occurrence.

The most recent occurred Monday, Oct. 28 on the Thayer Preserve trail on Sand Bank Road in the Town of Ithaca, authorities said.

The first happened Oct. 14 in Danby on the 2600 block of Danby Road near the Finger Lakes Trail, deputies said.

Both incidents happened during the early evening hours and are potentially related, deputies said.

Man who displayed knife, accused of forcibly touching two victims

Deputies are looking for a man who forcibly touched two women in Tompkins County while displaying a knife and wearing a ski mask in two separate incidents in the last month.

Authorities say the first incident happened near the Fingerlakes Trail in the 2600 block of Danby Road on October 14th, and the second happened two weeks later on the Thayer Preserve Trail near Sand Bank Road on October 28th.

Both happened in the early evening before dusk.

The suspect is described by police as a white man about 20-30 years old who stands between 5’6″ and 5’8″ with a stocky build.
