Wayne County hemp farmer believes thieves are mistaking his plants for pot

Dale Weed is a farmer and food processor who, just this year, started growing industrial hemp because of an increasing popularity in the CBD industry.

“This is an opportunity for farmers to be able to save the farm, and for people to understand the benefits of CBD,” said Weed.

But this story, first reported by The Times of Wayne County, isn’t about Weed’s interest in getting involved in the CBD industry. He says for the first time since he started farming, thieves are stealing his crops.

He says thieves are targeted his hemp plants in various fields, and have made away with tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of crops.
