UPDATE: Police ID person found deceased in Six Mile Creek over the weekend

Police have provided an update on the investigation unfolding around Six Mile Creek, after two kayakers discovered a dead body on Saturday.

Police identified the person as Wendi M. Owens, 31, of Enfield as the person who was found in the creek over the weekend.

The investigation remains active, according to police.

Kayakers find dead body in Six Mile Creek on Saturday

The Ithaca Police Department says they are investigating a body, which was found floating in Six Mile Creek near Agway on Saturday.

“The body was discovered by kayakers paddling through the channel,” IPD said in a statement. They say the body was removed from the water and was determined to be a female between 25- and 35-years-old.

The female was believed to have been in the water for a few hours prior to her discovery, according to police. The investigation is ongoing. They say more information will be released as it becomes available.
