W. Bayard St. closed in Seneca Falls after inspection of underground tunnel

The New York State Canal Corporation has closed a two block section of West Bayard Street due to an issue with an underground tunnel.

Officials were inspecting the tunnel on Thursday, during scheduled maintenance.

However, an issued discovered during that check resulted in the road being closed ‘until further notice’, according to officials.

No traffic will be allowed along West Bayard Street until further notice. The closure is active between Ovid Street and Bridge Street.

Ferrara Lumber and the Seneca Falls Firehouse are still accessible from the west (Bridge Street), according to officials.
