Police: Romulus woman left three young children in a car unattended for nearly half-hour

On Wednesday at 5:38 p.m. local police arrested Natasha M. Smith, 36, of Romulus following an investigation at Walmart in Seneca Falls.

The arrest stems from a civilian complaint received at the Walmart Super Center reporting three young children had been left unattended in a motor vehicle.

Upon arrival officers confirmed that three children, ages 10-, 9- and 2-years-old were left inside a vehicle while their mother, identified as Smith, went inside to shop.

After watching the CCTV footage police determined that the children were left in the vehicle for over 25 minutes.

Police charged Smith with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

She was arraigned at the Seneca County Centralized Arraignment Court where she was released on her own recognizance. The charges will be answered in Seneca Falls Town Court at a later date.
