Seneca County Sheriff Tim Luce reports the arrest of two individuals on dozens of felony charges following a lengthy child sex abuse investigation.
Duane L. Porterfield, 62, of Romulus was taken into custody following a lengthy investigation into his alleged possible involvement in the exchange of child sexual abuse images and videos, according to Luce. They report that he also made attempts to meet and connect with children for the purposes of committing sexual crimes.
Robert M. Heck, 66, of Newark was taken into custody on charges related to his involvement in the incident. Luce reports that Heck potentially exchanged the illegal materials while employed at a business in Seneca Falls.
Duane L. Porterfield, 62, of 1167 County Road 147, Romulus, New York was taken into custody on the following charges:
• 24 Counts of Possessing an Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child (Class E Felony)
• 1 Count of Attempt to Commit a Crime/ Use of a Child in a Sexual Performance (Class D Felony)
• 1 Count of Attempt to Commit a Crime/ Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child (Class E Felony)
Duane L. Porterfield was processed at the Seneca County Correctional Facility on all charges and held awaiting arraignment. Porterfield was released from the Correctional Facility after posting bail in the amount of $7,500.00 and is scheduled to re-appear in the Romulus Town Court on July 26th 2019.
Robert M. Heck, 66, of 309 West Sherman Avenue Newark, New York was taken into custody on the following charges:
• 8 Counts of Possessing an Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child (Class E Felony)
• 8 Counts of Promoting and Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child (Class D Felony)
• 43 Counts of Attempt to Commit a Crime/ Promoting an Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child (Class E Felony)
Robert M. Heck was processed at the Seneca County Correctional Facility on all charges and held awaiting arraignment. Heck was released after posting bail in the amount of $10,000.00 and is scheduled to re-appear before the Seneca Falls Town Court on August 14th 2019.
The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office worked in collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on both of these criminal investigations, which remain active.
