Fundraising efforts to help support a new intensive care unit and medical clinic at UR Medicine Thompson Hospital helped to raise tens of thousands of dollars this month.
On June 3, dozens of golfers gathered for the fifth annual Thompson Health Golf Classic at Cobblestone Creek Country Club in Victor.
Approximately $62,000 was raised for the projects.
The money raised will go toward construction of a new 12-bed ICU and expansion of the Pulmonary Medicine Clinic at the hospital. The ICU at Thompson Hospital currently has seven beds, which are nearly always filled.
“Being able to care for more patients from our community here at Thompson – instead of having to send them to Rochester hospitals – will ease the burden on local families who will now be able to stay close to home while supporting their loved ones,” said Anita Pietropaolo, director of the F.F. Thompson Foundation.
