The woman who admitted to being involved in a double murder in Wayne County was sentenced Thursday.
Charlene Childers, who pleaded guilty to manslaughter in connection to the case, read a prepared statement in court prior to being sentenced to the agreed upon 28 years in prison and 5 years post-release supervision.
Prosecutors say Childers’ husband, former Texas police chief Timothy Dean, shot and killed Joshua Niles and his fiancee Amber Washburn in front of their home in Sodus last October.
“What I did was wrong and I regret it every single day,” Childers said. “I would like to apologize for my wrongs… if I could take it all back, I would in a heartbeat. To the Niles and the Washburn families, I truly am sorry.”
