Police: Waterloo driver charged with aggravated DWI after Canandaigua crash

The Canandaigua Police Department reports that on April 23rd at 10:30 p.m. they responded to a one-car crash on Lakeshore Drive at South Main Street.

Following an investigation 49-year-old Karen J. Bush, of Waterloo, was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated, moving from lane unsafely, and leaving the scene of an accident, according to police.

They say that 48-year-old Brian Howlett, of Geneva was also arrested for driving while intoxicated, having a BAC over 0.08 percent and leaving the scene of an accident.

Police say Bush was operating a vehicle on Lakeshore Drive, when she left the roadway and struck a street light pole in the dividing median.

They say Howlett then came to the scene and began driving the heavily damaged vehicle away as emergency personnel arrived on-scene.

Both Howlett and Bush were released to appear in court at a later date.
