The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office says a Palmyra man is facing multiple charges after a violent domestic incident – where he threatened the victim, and responding law enforcement personnel on Wednesday during the early-morning hours.
Deputies say that William Eugene Watson, 49, of Palmyra was charged with second-degree strangulation, criminal mischief, managing, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon.
Watson is accused of hitting a female multiple times in the face, and strangling her four times. Deputies further allege that the victim nearly lost consciousness during the attack.
It is also alleged that Watson grabbed a shotgun and loaded two rounds and threatened to kill the victim, himself, and any law enforcement that would eventually respond to the incident, according to deputies.
Deputies say Watson took the victim’s cell phone and threw it against a wall after she screamed for help.
Watson was transported to the Wayne County Jail and will answer the charges at a later date.
