The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Canandaigua man following a traffic stop on State Route 96.
Deputies say James Paul Richmond Jr., 34, of Canandaigua was stopped along Route 96 on Tuesday around 4:16 p.m.
The Sheriff’s Office says deputies stopped him when they observed him smoking marijuana while operating the vehicle.
He was taken into custody after a brief altercation, which included him resisting arrest.
Richmond was subsequently charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, resisting arrest, obstruction of governmental administration, and issued traffic tickets for not having any hands on the steering wheel.
Deputies say he was transported to the Ontario County Jail where he was arraigned.
The charges will be answered in Victor Town Court at a later date.
