State Police have charged Roger Buckman, a Victor resident, with second-degree reckless endangerment and cited him for violating the state burn ban after a massive brush fire Sunday afternoon.
The blaze burned through 30 acres of land.
New York State Police, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, and Ontario County District Attorney’s Office are all working together on the investigation as it continues.
First responders from around Ontario County responded to the large brush fire in Victor near Route 251.
State Police evacuated two residences nearby as a precaution, according to Public Information Officer Mark O’Donnell.
The fire resulted in the temporary closure of Route 251 as first responders dealt with the scene.

Police called the fire ‘significant’. The report came in around 3 p.m.. Route 251 was shut down around 3:45 p.m., and by 4:30 p.m. the blaze was brought under control.
Residential brush burning is currently prohibited across the state. That said, police believe someone started burning brush; and that fire grew out of control.
New York State DEC were on-scene during the afternoon investigating.
Evacuated homeowners were allowed to return to their homes.
