Waterloo school board will meet to hear about budget

Postponed a week because of bad weather, the Board of Education will try again Monday to get preliminary information on a 2019-20 school budget.

Superintendent Terri Bavis and Business Administrator Joanne Slauson will present the report, citing school aid projections in Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s initial state budget proposal and other issues that will be part of budget development.

A public forum on the tentative budget will be held March 18 and a final budget will be presented to voters for approval in May. Also on the ballot will be three seats on the nine-member school board.

The terms of board members John Butlak, Nicohl Swartley and Coreen Lowry expire this year.

The board will meet at 6 p.m. for a tour of LaFayette Intermediate School on Inslee Street, led by Principal Elizabeth Springer. At 7 p.m., the board will reconvene in the Middle School Large Group Instruction Room for its regular meeting.
