Sheriff Henderson: Inmate charged with assault after biting officer during incident

Sheriff Kevin Henderson reports the arrest of an inmate at the Ontario County Jail following an altercation, during which a corrections officer was bit.

The Sheriff says Doreen Henderson, 56, of Newark was charged with second-degree assault. She is accused of biting the hand of an Ontario County Corrections Officer during a physical incident.

The officer was treated and released from F.F. Thompson Hospital. Sheriff Henderson says the officer has also returned to work since then.

Doreen Henderson was arraigned at the Ontario County Jail and will answer the charges at a later date.
