The Auburn Fire Department briefly cleaned up a mess it accidentally made on its own Thursday morning.
County 911 dispatchers said a call came in at 10:38 a.m. for a gas leak within Auburn. A firetruck responded, but while at the corner of Dill and State streets, the truck's power steering line blew, spilling fluid, said AFD Assistant Chief Mark Fritz.
AFD vehicles blocked off the area while personnel were cleaning up the spill. Fritz said the line was temporarily fixed and the truck was brought back to the station.
Another AFD truck that was already sent to the reported gas leak has since resolved that situation, Fritz said.
